Where Is The VDI Post?

With the rest of the VMware blog scene talking about VDI/VDM, and VMware’s new View, why don’t I have a post?

Simply because I have no experience in this area of virtualization, and don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction, or provide you with misinformation on the subject. If you would like, however, I can supply links from other sites in this area that I find interesting, but feel that would increase the noise level otherwise. Is this something you need more info about? Would the links be a good idea? Let me know in the comments.

    Well, good to see someone who does not post about stuff they don't know anything about! <grin>

    Seriously though, links would be good but people can find links. Links with comments or reviews are better.

    However good contribution is uses cases or feedback from the field. That is something you have direct experience of and can be a good contribution. As you talk to people I am sure the topic comes up, so what do you talk about in regards to VDI, surely you don't just say off topic, lets talk about SCSI reservations instead.

    I think VDI is a pretty cool idea. The problem is, like with all “Cool Ideas”, there is the opportunity for it to be implemented badly. Technology not withstanding, without a good understanding of how the infrastructure, virtual and otherwise, works, there is a lot of opportunity for it to make a “Left Hand Turn”. That said, the two or three XP VM's I run at home for those things that need windows, work quite well.
