vSphere Custom Drivers – The Coolest New vSphere Installer Screen!

by bunchc on June 10, 2009

Walking through the full vSphere ESX install today (Not ESXi like I had been using) I came across what seems to be one of the most awesome new features of vSphere ESX: Custom Drivers!

I just don’t have any custom drivers to install right now, but it is gloriously awesome none the less.

Cool? Yes
Implies whatever you're installing isn't included in the .ISO and thus not on the HCL? Yes
Lab only feature for me. :)

Also lets VMware & authorized vendors release supported drivers,
*without *having
to release a full 'Update' roll up.

I've been working on a VB6 file system and I want to make a fs driver so it shows up in Windows as a standard drive. Can I write this driver in VB or do I have to do it in C?

Something like this:

It's an open source VMFS driver.
